New Online Anti-Corrosion Training Package

November 5, 2008

A new online training package has been developed for all those with an interest in surface treatment and corrosion control using protective coatings.

Corrodere coatings & corrosion control training is a unique Class Society approved program that uses a combination of text, animation, video and voiceover to provide users with a comprehensive distance learning facility on all technical aspects of the use of protective coatings for anti-corrosion applications.

The modular program is fully approved by both Lloyds Register and Bureau Veritas and has been designed to specifically meet the protective coatings requirements of the marine, offshore, construction and maintenance industries. As such it is intended for use by engineers, inspectors, maintenance personnel, surveyors, laboratory personnel and others with an interest in surface protection methods.

Included in the course content are core modules are surface preparation abrasive blast cleaning, paint types and paint application, alongside complementary sections on health and safety requirements and access systems.

All sections are supported with full online documentation including course notes and technical data sheets, such as coating breakdown charts, surface area calculations, print compatibility charts and other details. Offline technical support is also available.

The Corrodere training program monitors the progress of candidates through all stages and users can only progress through the course with the successful completion of each end of module multiple choice assessment.

Successful completion of all core modules is marked with a pass certificate endorsed by the Institute of Corrosion.

Completion of the basic course gives users the option to progress to a series of additional course units covering cathodic protection, metallic coatings, coating failures, fire protection, concrete and other specialist areas.

This additional training is supported by a one day practical course and when completed qualifies users for certification to IACS PR34 standards.

The Corrodere program has been developed by coatings industry experts and provides a unique training tool to ensure that the user gains a complete insight into basic anti-corrosion methods of surface treatment and the application of protective coatings.
